Tammy Rose
Co Active Coach & Communication Companion

What might you want to know about me?

Logically, you might want proof if I'm any good at this coaching thing.

People tell me I have aptitude for this (read their words here).  I'm organically built to listen "below the words" and to ask questions that provoke growth. Truth is, co-active caching and being in authentic relationship has gotten into my bones.  And does our world ever need authentic relationships right now, wouldn't you agree? Collectively, we need to enter into conversations that strengthen, stretch and sustain us. We need to think and act freshly and deeply...and listen to what we feel in our bones. We need to reconnect to ourselves, to one another and to our earth and re-imagine new ways forward. Perhaps I can't give you exact proof about how "good" I am at this coaching. So instead, I invite you to give it a try and discover if we are a partnership fit. What I can guarantee is that I show up to each coaching conversation fully engaged and curious about what it is you care about, what it is that is unspoken in your heart and what you want to sustain in your life and work. That in itself... is beyond GOOD!

Plausibly, you might want to know about my training and work experience
I am a Coach, Trainer, and Co-Author who has worked with individuals, leaders, teams and networks across B.C. and Alberta. My career began “on the ground”; serving with, listening to, and learning from children, youth, families and social serving non-profits. Early on, my direct service took a shift, because I noticed how the well-being and communication of the service providers, (including myself), rippled out and either hindered or enhanced the programs we were offering. I was intrigued by how people worked together; felt a call to do “more”, but really didn’t know where it would lead. Eventually, my path led me to work for a community network focused on multi-agency collaboration, social change, and community development. This was a BIG leadership learning curve with a curvy, bumpy and emergent path to what it means to build partnerships, across a system, with shared commitment, strengths, and purpose. Eventually, I went from supporting a local network to learning how to support community networks and community builders at regional and provincial levels. This included writing curriculum, processes, toolkits and resources to move the work forward. Post-Secondary instruction is another venue where I apply coaching skills to facilitate learning and leadership. Interpersonal Communications is without a doubt my favorite course to teach (so far). I have awesome training and am a certified professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) and a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF).  Quality and ethics matter to me, too. I follow the ICF’s ethics (check it out if that matters to you).

Intuitively, you might wonder how all this shapes who I am and whether I walk my talk.
All these years of training and experience have helped me identify, understand and harness my strengths. It’s also helped me see my slippery and blind spots... the places where my communication falls off the rails or where I react versus respond. I’ve learned about practicing self-compassion and turning that compassion outwards. It’s not always an automatic, but I have the processes and structures in place to bring me back to a centered place more often. I’ve come to accept the wholeness of myself and others – not just the pretty surface parts – but the whole kit and caboodle. The places where we are pretty darn magnificent and the places we get interestingly mucky, twisted or distant (and all the places in between). I've come to accept the range of emotions that are in me, and therefore I have the capacity to be with the range in you. We can walk together through whatever surfaces...grief, ache, passion, disappointment, fear, joy, gratitude. You name it- we can go there. I love to STRETCH myself, to try different perspectives and to question things. Which means when I ask you to stretch, try a perspective or question something...I've been there. I do that, too.
Being real. Being imperfect. Being whole. That’s how I walk my talk.
